My name is Vivian Lovelace, PMP-certified project manager, musician, aspiring novelist, and game designer hailing from Birmingham, Alabama.

In 2017 I landed a role in tech, which gave me both technical and business experience through startup phases, all the way through corporate acquisition. I led operations teams through steady yearly growth, and eventually the 2020 pandemic lockdowns. I found the experience of leading a team of knowledgeable and hardworking people to be incredibly rewarding and revealing of talents I was previously unaware of. Thus I’ve spent the past several years expanding my technical and interpersonal expertise in order to become the servant leader I aspire to be.

I began writing my first novel manuscript in 2015 and have been developing my craft ever since. One massive life reset caused me to reflect upon my writing journey, leading me to accept that in order to create what I’m dreaming of, I must continue pushing myself to grow and experience life in all new ways.

Prior to ever completing a first draft, I was building my skills as a game designer. In 2015, I coded and created the assets for my first little game project, a simple platformer titled Glitch Witch. This project was incredibly fun and taught me so much from immersing myself in both the technical and creative aspects of game development. I’ve enjoyed dabbling in code and gaining a deeper understanding of all things tech ever since.

I originally stepped away from game dev in favor of composing novels, as the work of the latter called to me most at the time. However, I find myself with 5+ years of team leadership and project management experience, so my aspirations have once again shifted, this time towards the aim of leading teams of brilliant and talented developers in building something truly incredible. Throughout my journey I’ve used this website to share my progress across pursuits, and that hasn’t changed, only now I’ve reached a point where it’s time to try blending my passions and further refining the shape of my own story as I continue forward.

If there’s been one reoccurring discovery in this life, it’s been the lesson there is so much power intrinsically within the medium of stories and games - far more than we utilize in our day-to-day world. I’ve used both tools to lead, inspire, deliver on results, and build morale even in the most challenging of times. I believe games and storytelling are twins in so many ways and can work wonders when elements of both are blended together to compose a cohesive, elegant whole. Whether these under-sung tools are used to communicate ideas or to coordinate greater endeavors, these is a sort of magic waiting to be wielded by those with the balance of aptitudes to implement these elements into their approach.
